Description
These Valentine Chocolate Covered Pretzels for kids offer an irresistible flavor and are easy to prepare. Combining crunch with a sweet chocolate coating and optional sprinkles, they are a delightful treat perfect for celebrations and homemade desserts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces (226g) semi-sweet or white chocolate (two 4-ounce bars), finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil or coconut oil
- 4 cups pretzels
- optional: sprinkles for topping
Instructions
- Prepare a large baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper and set aside.
- Melt the chopped chocolate with the oil using a double boiler or in the microwave. If using the microwave, place the chocolate and oil in a medium heat-proof bowl and heat in 20-second increments, stirring after each until completely melted and smooth.
- Dip each pretzel into the melted chocolate, using a fork to lift them out. Allow excess chocolate to drip off by tapping the fork against the bowl. Help slide the pretzel off the fork onto the lined baking sheet using a toothpick.
- Sprinkle with toppings while the chocolate is wet. If there's leftover melted chocolate, reheat if necessary and drizzle over the pretzels using a squeeze bottle.
- Refrigerate the pretzels to set the chocolate, which will take about 20–30 minutes. Once set, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
Using glass for melting chocolate is recommended for easier dipping.
Add a variety of sprinkles for a fun touch.
These pretzels can be refrigerated for longer shelf life.
