Description

Experience the deliciousness of Stuffed Cabbage Rolls, featuring hearty ground meat and rice wrapped in tender cabbage leaves. Ideal for a quick, healthy dinner, this comforting dish delights with its rich flavors and straightforward preparation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef or pork (or a mix)
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 cups tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Boil a large pot of water, remove the cabbage core, and submerge the whole head for 5–7 minutes until softened. Let cool and separate leaves.
  • In a bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix thoroughly.
  • Add 2–3 tablespoons of the filling to each cabbage leaf, folding sides in and rolling tightly.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Place the rolls seam-side down and lightly brown on all sides.
  • Pour tomato sauce and beef broth over the cabbage rolls. Simmer, reduce heat, cover, and cook for 45–60 minutes until tender and cooked through.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Use a mix of ground beef and pork for a richer flavor.
Ensure you let the cabbage leaves cool before handling them for easy rolling.
These rolls can be made ahead of time and reheated for a hassle-free weeknight dinner.
