Description

This Salmon Bowl features tender salmon pieces marinated in a delightful mixture of honey and orange, served over rice. It’s perfect for a quick dinner packed with flavor and nutrition!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound skinless salmon fillets cut into 1-inch pieces
  • ½ teaspoon salt divided
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 large orange juiced and zested, about ½ cup of juice and 1 teaspoon of zest
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil divided
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional
  • cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon dry and season with ¼ teaspoon salt and pepper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, orange zest, orange juice, ginger, and sesame oil. Add the salmon and toss gently. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat 1 teaspoon vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Using a slotted spoon, remove the salmon from the marinade (reserve marinade) and add to the skillet in a single layer. Cook 2 minutes without stirring, until lightly browned. Flip and cook another 2 minutes, or until just cooked through. Set aside on a plate.
  5. Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet. Lower heat to medium and simmer 3 to 4 minutes, stirring gently, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy. Add salmon back to the sauce and stir to coat.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over rice.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the marinade.
Feel free to substitute the rice with quinoa or noodles for a different base.
This recipe can easily be doubled for larger gatherings.
