Description
Raspberry Nutella Heart Pies bring together tender pie crust, luscious Nutella, and fresh strawberries, creating an irresistible treat perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package pre-made pie crusts
- nutella
- 1 cup diced strawberries
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 egg
- 1–2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Prepare the strawberry filling by washing, destemming, and dicing the strawberries. Mix them with sugar and cornstarch in a bowl and set aside to macerate.
- Unroll one pie crust and cut out hearts. Place them on a greased or parchment-lined cookie sheet, leaving space between each pie.
- Spread 1-2 teaspoons of Nutella in the center of each heart. Softening the Nutella in the microwave can help spread it easily.
- Add a spoonful of the strawberry filling on top of the Nutella in each heart.
- Unroll the second pie crust and cut matching hearts. Place these on top of the filled hearts, sealing edges with a fork.
- Poke small holes in the top of each pie for venting during baking.
- Whisk together egg and water until light yellow, then use a pastry brush to coat the tops of the pies lightly.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes or until the pies are deep golden brown.
Notes
For a homemade crust, use your favorite pie crust recipe or purchase pre-made dough.
Microwaving the Nutella makes it easier to spread and ensures a nice thick layer in each pie.
Ensure that the edges of the pies are well-sealed to prevent filling from oozing out during baking.
