Description

This Pear Crisp features tender, juicy pears with a crunchy oat topping, making it a perfect choice for a cozy dessert. Quick to prepare, it’s great for gatherings and satisfying cravings for comfort food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups pears (peeled and thinly sliced from 56 pears)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup rolled oats (gluten free, if needed)
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour (gluten free, if needed)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts (optional, chopped)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 2-quart baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine pears, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  3. Using the same bowl, mix oats, flour, and brown sugar. If desired, add chopped pecans or walnuts and stir.
  4. Cut the butter into the dry mixture using a fork, pastry cutter, or your fingers until it forms crumbles.
  5. Sprinkle the crumbles evenly over the pear mixture in the baking dish.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the pears are bubbling at the edges. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
  7. Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, be sure to use certified gluten-free oats and flour.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
