Description
Mississippi Chicken is a delightful dish featuring tender chicken breasts cooked with zesty peperoncini and savory gravy and ranch mixes, ideal for a quick and satisfying dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 to 3 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast
- 6 to 12 peperoncini peppers
- 3–6 tablespoons liquid from the jar (optional)
- 1 packet au jus gravy mix (1 oz)
- 1 packet ranch dressing mix (1 oz)
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- Spray a 5 to 6 quart slow cooker with cooking spray and prepare your ingredients.
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and arrange it at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Surround the chicken with peperoncini peppers and add a few tablespoons of liquid from the jar if desired. Sprinkle the gravy and ranch dressing mixes over the top.
- Cut the butter into tablespoons and evenly place it on top of the seasoned chicken.
- Cover and cook on HIGH for 2.5 to 4 hours or on LOW for 6 to 8 hours until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Transfer the chicken to a cutting board and rest for 10 minutes. Use two forks to pull it into chunks, avoiding stringy bits.
- Return the chicken to the sauce in the slow cooker and let it absorb some flavor before serving with your favorite side dishes.
Notes
Adjust the amount of peperoncini based on your spice preference.
Serve Mississippi Chicken with rice or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken with seasonings overnight.
