This Homemade Pizza Sauce features an irresistible flavor with simple prep using fresh garlic, oregano, and crushed tomatoes. It’s perfect for quick dinners or a comforting meal.

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, grated on a Microplane
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add grated garlic and cook for 2 minutes, stirring often, until fragrant.
- Stir in dried oregano and crushed red pepper flakes, cooking for 1 additional minute.
- Add crushed tomatoes and sugar, then reduce heat to low.
- Simmer for 20 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Stir in unsalted butter and season with salt and pepper to taste; allow to cool to room temperature.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the spice level by adding more or less crushed red pepper flakes.
Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
