Description

Enjoy these Homemade Caramel Apples that blend the tartness of granny smith apples with rich caramel. Simple to make and perfect for gatherings or a sweet treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 whole granny smith apples
  • 12 lollipop sticks
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup karo syrup
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate wafers, melted
  • 1/2 cup toppings, such as sprinkles or crushed candy bars

Instructions

  1. Wash the apples to remove any wax by soaking them in a mix of water and vinegar. Dry thoroughly with a towel.
  2. Remove the stems from the apples and carefully insert a lollipop stick into the top, about three-quarters of the way through.
  3. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper and place the apples on top.

Notes

You can use a variety of toppings to customize your caramel apples.
Make sure the apples are completely dry before dipping them in caramel to ensure a good coating.
For a fun twist, try using caramel apple kits available in stores.
