Description

This Homemade Apple Cider Syrup features a delightful blend of apple juice and spices. It’s effortlessly made and perfect for enhancing your favorite breakfast dishes, making every bite irresistible.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups apple juice or fresh apple cider
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Heat a heavy bottomed saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the apple juice, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, apple cider vinegar, and butter; whisk to combine.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally, for 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Allow to cool completely before serving with pancakes, waffles, French toast, or ice cream.

Notes

This syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Adjust the sweetness by reducing or increasing the amount of brown sugar.
For a thicker syrup, add more cornstarch as needed.
