Description

These Easy Donut Holes are a delightful treat that boasts an irresistible flavor and straightforward prep. Made with simple ingredients like all-purpose flour and heavy cream, they are perfect for a cozy snack or dessert. Fry them to golden perfection for a mouthwatering experience everyone will enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 cups + 2 tablespoons (298g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons (11g) baking powder
  • ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (237ml) heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup (119ml) whole milk

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
  2. Pour in the heavy whipping cream and whole milk, stirring with a wooden spoon or spatula until a gooey dough forms.
  3. Using a cookie scoop, scoop out 1 tablespoon balls of dough. You can either place these directly into the hot oil or chill them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper until ready to fry.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a 3-quart saucepan to 350°F, using a thermometer for accuracy. Keep a cookie sheet lined with paper towels nearby.
  5. Fry 3-4 donut holes at a time, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan as this can drop the oil temperature. Fry for about 3-5 minutes until dark golden brown, flipping them halfway through.
  6. Carefully remove the donut holes with a slotted spoon and place them on the paper towel-lined baking sheet. Allow them to cool slightly before rolling in cinnamon sugar or glazing.

Notes

Ensure the oil temperature is monitored closely to achieve the best frying results.
Experiment with different toppings like cinnamon sugar or a glaze to suit your taste.
These donut holes can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
