This Easy Black Bean Dip is quick to prepare and bursting with flavor, featuring black beans, fresh lime, and jalapeños. Perfect for snacks or gatherings!

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium red onion chopped small
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 2 jalapeño peppers seeded and chopped
- 2 (15-ounce) cans black beans drained and rinsed
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
- 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro plus more for serving
- vegan cheese optional
- pickled red onions optional
Instructions
- Warm the olive oil in a small pan over medium heat.
- Sauté chopped red onion, garlic, and jalapeño peppers for 5-8 minutes, stirring frequently, then remove from heat.
- In a food processor, combine the drained and rinsed black beans, cooked onion/garlic/peppers, cumin, salt, lime juice, and cilantro.
- Process until fairly smooth, leaving some texture if desired.
- Transfer to a serving dish, garnish with additional cilantro, vegan cheese, and pickled onions if using. Serve with tortilla chips.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the heat by adding more or fewer jalapeños.
Use any variety of beans if black beans are not available.
This dip can be made ahead of time and served chilled.
