Description

Treat yourself to these delicious Caramel Apple Trifles! This recipe combines the tartness of granny smith apples, the sweetness of caramel, and lightness of Cool Whip for a satisfying indulgence that’s quick to prepare and ideal for gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 granny smith apples
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 12 ounces pound cake
  • 8 ounces cool whip
  • 6 tablespoons caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the apples into small cubes. Toss them into a medium saucepan with lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar, stirring well.
  2. Simmer the mixture over medium heat for about 10 minutes until the apples soften and the sugar creates a caramel-like syrup. Set aside to cool.
  3. Cut the pound cake into bite-sized cubes. Prepare a piping bag or zip-top bag with the Cool Whip.
  4. Assemble the trifle by layering pound cake cubes at the bottom of serving glasses. Add a layer of the apple mixture followed by caramel sauce and a layer of Cool Whip.
  5. Repeat the layering: pound cake, apples, caramel, and Cool Whip. Drizzle caramel on top before serving. Enjoy fresh or refrigerate.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using a mix of apples.
Make ahead: Keep components separate and assemble just before serving for the best texture.
You can substitute Cool Whip with homemade whipped cream if preferred.
