Description

This Caramel Apple Crisp with Crunchy Oat Topping combines tender apples and a sweet, buttery oat crust, creating the perfect comforting dessert for any occasion. With easy prep and irresistible flavor, it’s a must-try for anyone who enjoys homemade treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 granny smith apples, cut into 1/2" pieces
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 8 tablespoons butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In a bowl, mix the diced apples with lemon juice to coat them. Sprinkle flour and cinnamon on the apples and toss well. Pour this mixture into a 9" pie plate.
  3. Drizzle about 1/2 cup of caramel sauce over the apple mixture and set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, blend the softened butter, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and oats until it forms small crumbles. Spread this topping over the apples.
  5. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before drizzling with more caramel to garnish. Enjoy!

Notes

For a richer flavor, try using a mix of different apples.
You can prepare the topping in advance and store it in the refrigerator.
Serve with vanilla ice cream for a delightful pairing.
