Description
BBQ Chicken Thighs feature tender, juicy meat surrounded by a smoky-sweet marinade. This easy, delicious dish is perfect for quick dinners or weekend cookouts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2.5 lbs chicken thighs boneless skinless
- 2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- 3 tbsp avocado oil
- 1 cup homemade southern bbq sauce
Instructions
- Place chicken thighs in a large bowl and pour in brown sugar, kosher salt, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, and avocado oil. Mix well and marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Take the chicken out of the fridge 30 minutes before grilling.
- Preheat the grill over medium-high heat while the chicken warms up.
- Put the chicken thighs on the grill, reduce the heat to medium, and close the lid. Cook for a few minutes on each side until grill marks appear.
- When the chicken is nearly done, baste it with BBQ sauce on both sides and move it to indirect heat to absorb the flavors as it finishes cooking.
- Once the internal temperature reaches 175-190°F for dark meat (or 165°F for white meat), remove from the grill and serve with additional BBQ sauce.
Notes
Marinating the chicken overnight enhances the flavor.
Ensure the chicken reaches proper internal temperature for safe consumption.
Experiment with your favorite BBQ sauce for different flavor profiles.
