Description

Enjoy a warm, gooey Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie that’s rich in flavor and easy to make. Perfect for a spontaneous dessert or a delightful treat, this skillet cookie combines the nutty taste of brown butter with melty chocolate chips for a delightful experience any time you crave something sweet.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour and 2 tablespoons
  • 1½ tsp cornstarch
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate, extra for topping
  • Flaky salt for finishing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma.
  3. Remove the skillet from the heat and whisk in both sugars until well combined.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined, then stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Spread the cookie dough evenly in the skillet and sprinkle extra chocolate on top.
  8. Bake for 24 minutes or until the edges are golden and the center is soft.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before topping with flaky salt and serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, let the butter brown slightly longer until it has a deep golden color.
This cookie is best served warm right from the skillet for a gooey texture.
Feel free to add nuts or your favorite chocolate mix-ins.
